I love a book about how a man came from nothing, but with God he became a light to the world for Jesus. That’s this book by Roger Huang. I was looking for another good book to dive into and went to read the reviews for this book called Chasing God. The top review was from Christian Huang, Roger Huang’s son, he goes on to say he read this extremely quickly and that he was inspired by his dad’s story. I figured he wasn’t impartial and was just helping the sales of this book… so I decided to read it for myself, so I could give it a “real” review.
To be quite clear, this book is as good as he makes it seem. I read this book in a little over 3 days, but enjoyed every sentence. I am also inspired and want to make an impact here in my city to share the love of Jesus. That’s what Huang did. Found/felt the calling of Jesus to make an impact in a particular section of San Francisco and followed His lead. Although things were not always easy or tied up nicely, Huang followed his calling and served his city. He is an example of “In the city, for the city.”
This book is Roger’s story from beginning to end. He is just another man on mission with Jesus and lives his life like that. More men need to be still and listen to what He is telling us to do. To take his lead and let him feed us. If Jesus can feed 5,000 men from a little boys lunch (John 6), imagine what he could do with many more men like Roger Huang with the inspiration to make sandwiches for those in need.
I recommend this book, not only to hear Roger Huang’s story, not only to validate the review given by his son, but to hear God speak to you; time to read this book and get inspired.
