My name is Jeff and I love to eat. True story. So when I saw a book titled “Eat With Joy” I was instantly grabbed and decided I had to read it. This book by Rachel Stone is about our relationship with food and how we should relate to food looking at it from the biblical worldview and not just our normal worldview.
This book has great, long chapters with topics going from joyful eating – God’s intent for how we relate to good, generous eating – serving the needy, loving our neighbors, COMMUNAL EATING – How eating mean brings us together, RESTORATIVE EATING – how eating together heals, SUSTAINABLE EATING – making choices for the land, CREATIVE EATING – food prep and REDEMPTIVE EATING sharing best practices.
Each chapter is pretty lengthy and in depth. If you like head knowledge, this book would be better for you. I f you are looking for more stories, and a biography/memoir type book, this isn’t for you. Stone does share some great little stories and some quick bible verses here and there, but it doesn’t read like a blog.
Each chapter ends with a set of prayers/grace you can say over your meals as well as a few recipes. I really liked each set of prayers and ear marked each one for future reference.
This book wasn’t my favorite, but don’t discount the book because of just my opinion. Take a look at the other review and maybe pick up a copy?!
